La Lichée's maple caramel tofu bowl is simply decadent. A classic meal with a good dose of maple caramel is always a winner! A treat for vegetarians and/or tofu fanatics.
Ingredients
- A brick of firm tofu
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- ¼ cup canola oil
- Chopped green onions
- Sesame seeds
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp. rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp. La Lichée's maple caramel
- 1 tbsp. sesame oil
- 1 tbsp. finely chopped ginger
- 1 tsp miso
- 1 garlic clove, minced
Preparation
- Pat the tofu dry and cut into small 2 cm x 2 cm cubes.
- In a large bowl, mix the tofu with the cornstarch.
- In a separate bowl, combine all ingredients for the sauce: soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple caramel, sesame oil, ginger, miso and garlic.
- Leave to marinate for a few hours in the refrigerator.
- In a saucepan, heat the canola oil over medium heat and cook the marinated tofu cubes for a few minutes, until golden brown.
- Add the remaining marinade and bring to a boil, until the sauce thickens.
- Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
