La Lichée Maple Caramel Tofu Bowl

La Lichée's maple caramel tofu bowl is simply decadent. A classic meal with a good dose of maple caramel is always a winner! A treat for vegetarians and/or tofu fanatics.


Ingredients

  • A brick of firm tofu 
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • Chopped green onions 
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. La Lichée's maple caramel
  • 1 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp miso
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Preparation

  1. Pat the tofu dry and cut into small 2 cm x 2 cm cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the tofu with the cornstarch.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine all ingredients for the sauce: soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple caramel, sesame oil, ginger, miso and garlic. 
  4. Leave to marinate for a few hours in the refrigerator.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the canola oil over medium heat and cook the marinated tofu cubes for a few minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Add the remaining marinade and bring to a boil, until the sauce thickens. 
  7. Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  8. Enjoy!
